Kozlov Dance International’s production of “The Nutcracker” was first staged for the Australian Ballet at the Sydney Opera House in 1981 by Leonid Kozlov, former principal dancer with both the Bolshoi and the New York City Ballet and founder of the Youth Dance Festival of New Jersey.
As Director of Kozlov Dance International, Leonid Kozlov, has been delighting audiences in the metropolitan New York area since 1993 with his dazzling choreography set to Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable score, lavish costumes and scenery direct from the Bolshoi Theatre Workshop, and most notably the poise and professionalism of his talented dancers.
Kozlov’s “The Nutcracker” makes the perfect introduction to classical ballet for all ages. A Christmas tree grows tall before your eyes and a heroic nutcracker prince comes to life to battle an army of mice. Snowflakes dance on tiptoe, and an elegant Sugar Plum Fairy graciously entertains Clara and the Prince on their journey through the Land of the Sweets.
